Taste of Sierra Leone Culture and Fashion collaborates in a partnership with Limkokwing University Department of Fashion Design and the Department of Tourism for the Taste is Sierra Leone Culture and Fashion yearly Initiative in Freetown, Sierra Leone, West Africa. Youth are the future of Africa. Their clever minds excel in innovation and technology. We want to work with an educational institution that promotes education and gives youth development, growth and skills needed to succeed in the world. The students involved in the facilitation of the program offered them the experience of managing a program that enhanced their knowledge, expertise and understanding of their trade . April 27, 2021 was this year’s Sierra Leone Independence Celebration. This was a perfect time to celebrate Sierra Leone’s Heritage and Culture. We gave a Presentation during the month of April in Sierra Leone that launched the initiative. We accommodated an attendance of 100-200 people at Limkokwing University in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Visitors also came to Sierra Leone from the Diaspora. They were associated with the “Search of Uhuru Tour” Company. They came to visit the home of their ancestors and received their Sierra Leonean passport from the Government. They came from the United States and attended the program as special guests. Honorable Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr of Freetown, Sierra Leone was Guest of Honor for this program and was given the Service and Leadership Award. Partnership with the Student Involvement & Community Advocacy The students that attend Limkokwing University, Department of Fashion and Design and Tourism Department made contact with government officials, and public figures in our community. They were apart of a history making venture that promoted the link between African and individuals of African Descent in the Diaspora. An executive committee was established that incorporated the Taste of Sierra Leone Culture and Fashion Team, students of Limkokwing University and administrative staff.
